About

Welcome to the Special Sunshine Learning blog.

This space was created to make the “invisible” parts of learning more clear.

So many students are expected to understand things that are never directly taught. Skills like managing time, navigating social situations, staying organized, handling frustration, or knowing what is expected in different environments. For many learners, especially those with ADHD, autism, or executive functioning challenges, these skills are not intuitive.

That is where this blog comes in.

Here, you will find simple, practical ways to teach and support:

  • Social skills and “invisible rules”
  • Executive functioning skills like planning, organization, and self-monitoring
  • Emotional regulation and problem-solving
  • Real-life skills students need for school and everyday life

Everything shared here is designed to be:

  • Clear and easy to implement
  • Grounded in real-life teaching experience
  • Supportive of a wide range of learners
  • Practical for classrooms, small groups, or home settings

The goal is not perfection. The goal is progress, confidence, and helping students feel capable in situations that once felt confusing or overwhelming.

If you are a teacher, parent, therapist, or someone supporting a learner who needs things broken down a little more clearly, you are in the right place.

And if you are looking for structured, ready-to-use resources, you will also find tools connected to these posts throughout the site.

I am so glad you are here.

Love, Selah
